I think the idea is simple enough. I have silhouetted actors in front of a green screen. I’d like to turn this into a vector mask (?) on the assumption that it would let me go in there and grab a few close-ups. They would, of course, remain in silhouette.

I know nothing about vectors. I’m looking for a short list of key words and concepts; something I can use to get started on my research.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,

Auto trace under the layers menu should get you a good start. Or alternatively, if you have Illustrator CS2 or higher, you could export a tiff sequence and then use Bridge with Illustrator to trace your frames and then re-import them into AE.

    Hope this helps,

    Lars

That was far, far too easy.

Now waiting for the other shoe to drop. Thanks very much.
