  Video shot at 24p, Audio 29.97 or 30

  Greetings Cow Boys & Cow Girls,

  I’m editing footage I shot on a DVX at 24P fps. The audio was recorded using an m-audio flash recorder which, I now realize, was set at some other frame rate than 24fps. Probably 29.97 or 30.

  So I was wondering, is there a way to convert my audio .mp3 files into a different fps rate, or would it be better for me to try converting the video from 24p to 30 or 29.97 fps?

  Audio doesn’t have a “frame rate” per sé. As long as your video is 23.98…NOT 24fps…if the audio is at 29.97, it should match fine.

  Convert from mp3 to AIFF though.

  Is that flash recorder reliable for capturing production audio?

  Further to Shane’s good advice, make sure the sample rate of the converted aif files is 48Khz.

  If there is any drift it may be 23.976 versus 24 which requires that the audio is slowed by .1% to resync.
