  Constant rendering..

  Hi FCP’ers

  I’m editing a showreel on FCP 6 using H.264 files from different productions i’ve worked on.
  Is there a way to edit offline so i don’t have to continuously re-render every time i make a cut or add a new clip? Then i can just render the lot once when i’ve re-imported?
  Am i missing a trick?

  H.264 is NOT an editing codec. Convert them to a proper editing codec and you will not have the problem.

  There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
  Don’t let technology get in the way of your creativity!

  You cannot easily edit h.264 without huge hardware support, it’s a highly compressed streaming or constant playback release format but it requires intense calculations to build individual frames. If you want o avoid rendering you must transcode it to something that does not require constant rendering.
