    hello guys
I am trying to print to tape from FCP to Beta SP using the blackmagic card Decklink HD Extreme 3
I have a ref input option but no output and so I am not able to have a ref to the deck
what can I do other than renting a black burst generator?

    I am connected component

Record it anyway. Then play back. It may well look wrong during record. Mine worked that way without a sync generator anyway. BVW-1800.

If you do have any problem then try using the Deckink’s composite output for sync into the SP deck’s Ref In.

An stand alone Betacam recorder doesn’t need any reference when recording Composite or Components.
Neither you need any ref when you edit Betacam-Betacam.
The ref-in is only needed in a studio were all the signal from all the devices must be in sync.
In your setting Video card> Betacam, the Video IN is enough reference. The desk have the pre-roll time to get in sync.
Different is when you working in digital.
If it doesn’t works without ref-in, as Jerry points, try the suggestion of Andy. This one should work for sure.
