    Hi, all.

Trying to resolve two issues with one post here. Thanks in advance.

    1. MPG issue: When I import an MPG file into FCP the audio is missing. I can play the MPG file in Quicktime and the audio plays. Any thoughts?

    2. MP4 issue: I used the FLIP HD MINO to record an interview. I used the FLIP software to download the video onto my computer, which is in the mp4 format. When I import the mp4 file into FCP, I can render the video, but when I play it the video and audio are out of sync.

    Again, many thanks to all.

FCP doesn’t like any form of multiplexed audio Kevin. You need to demux such file s first using a suitable app such as MPEG Streamclip (https://www.squared5.com/) … whilst you are there, it would be highly recommended you simply convert those files to an altogether more edit friendly codec, such as DV or DV50. MPG is not on of FCP’s preferred formats, its a delivery format, not an editing format.

Again, not an FCP preferred format. Not at all edit friendly, another delivery format. Convert to a intermediate edit format. For low end HD then you might want to try Apple ProRes 422 LT or DVCPRO HD.
