  • Day for night look using Apple 3-way CC and Nattress

I have a shot of a country road I need to turn into a night shot. I applied Nattress’ day for night filter and got part of the way there, added the 3-way cc and did some more crunching of blacks and adding blue there, added a video track below of a dark blue-black and adjusted the blend mode of the treated track above. It’s not bad. I’d like to “plus it up” a little more though. You know, make it more realistic. Is there something in Motion I could apply, or more tricks I can do just with what is on hand in final cut?

Color has a number of day-for-night presets in the Color FX Bin. I’d play with that. While I’ve not done day-for-night with color, I’d be surprised if it didn’t do an excellent job. Maybe search the Color forum or post there.
