  Lost audio on import of video

  I’m very new to FCP. I ran a 4 hour video through Mpeg Streamclip and converted it to an mpeg. The audio was converted at the same time. I have the video on a disk and it plays fine with good audio. However, when I imported it in to FCP, the video came in, but know audio.

  1. Any idea what I did wrong.

  2. I had to render the mpeg in FCP before it could be viewed in FCP. Is this common or should I use a different extension instead of mpeg.

  FCP doesn’t work with MPEGs, as you’ve seen. Next time convert the file to a Quicktime using MPEG Streamclip or your converter of choice and you should have audio.

  In Stream Clip, there is a function; Export to Quicktime. Is this the one I should use? I’m use to using AVI or MPeg in Adobe, I can see this is going to change.
