  WAV files reconnect out of sync

  Trying to narrow down an issue

  FCP 6.0.6
  OS 10.5.8
  QT 7.6.4
  1080/23.98psf & 720p/23.98 timelines

  Editor A gets new music cues as 48k/24bit WAV. Cuts them into project. Emails new project file to Editor B along with the new music cues. Editor A opens project, Reconnects Media, FCP finds media just fine and gives no warnings. But about 20% of the clips are reconnecting severely out of sync. This is our 2nd project that is displaying the problem. NEVER happens with aiff….

  Some of these clips were 99.99% speed ramped. Some are natural 100%. Can’t find any common links that would give me a clue. It’s probably just a bug, but it’s biting.

  Wow I am about to start editing a project with .wav files so this is good to know. Now can a wav file be converted over to a AIFF file?

  Open them in either QuickTime or iTunes first, convert to .aiff @ 48k 16bit and you shouldn’t have any problems.

  In the future, have your audio people send with those specs in the first place.

  Tony,

  My current file out of my Zoom H4N audio recorder is 44.1Khz 16 bit .wav file. I already know how to import it into iTunes and convert over to a Aiff file, but I am not sure how I go about changing the setting from 44.1khz to 48khz. Any insight on this or does it matter?
