  • How to remove the orange mask of a color negative

Posted by Pierre luc Jutras gouin on November 11, 2009 at 11:46 pm

    Hi,

I’ve transfered some Super 8 color negative footage, but since I did not pay for a professional telecine I’m now stuck with negative footage. Would anyone know how to get rid of the orange mask before inverting to positive? I’ve tried color 3-way without good results. Maybe there’s a plugin out there that I don’t know of?

    Thanks,
    pl

Normally the color mask correction and polarity flip is done in the telecine.

You might try the RGB balance instead of the 3 way CC or if you have Final Cut Studio send to Color and try the individual color curves in the primary.

I think I’d invert the colors and then remove the color cast.

I’d do this in Color, Motion, AE or Photoshop.
