  Multiclip needs rendering when containing more than 2 clips.

  I’m working on a multi edit, using 3 different camera’s. The footage was captured by someone else, I dropped them in the capture scratch location (\capture scratch\\video.mov) and imported in the project. When I drag one clip in a sequence, the bars are grey and I don’t need te render. However, if I make a multiclip of 3 or more clips, the bar turns red and I need to render. Not knowing how to solve this, I rendered the clip. I had a feeling this wouldn’t solve it, and I was right. It just rendered the active clip, the other 2 were still not usable. I compared the sequence to the one my colleague made. They’re identical, yet he doesn’t need rendering. What am I doing wrong?

  Are all three the same compression and frame rate? What are the specs of the media? What version of FCP are you using?

  I forgot to mention that only the video bar is red, the audio doesn’t need rendering. The footage is compressed to “HDV – 1080i50” at 25 fps.
  I don’t know what other specs you need, but here are some:

  Data Rate: 3.2 MB/sec
  Audio Rate: 48.0 KHz
  Audio Format: 16-bit Integer
  No alpha
  Field Dominance: Upper (Odd)

  I am using FCP 5.1. My colleague is using FCP 7 and uses the same settings I do.
