  FCP 7 effects crashing using ex3

  Help please,

  I’m having an issue with FCP 7 and crashes with certain effects

  I just added “bad tv” to a piece of footage on timeline and instantly didn’t like it
  The whole FCP crashed, the viewer and canvas pixelated both screens etc. i thought it had crashed so shut down and restarted tried again same thing happened, not hugely technical but do i need a stronger graphics card? I have one processor on a quad core machine, does this mean i’m not using the full capabilities of the quad core? can i access anywhere to make more processors work if i have them? or do i have to buy more soemthing else????!!
