display orginal timecode of source footage
hi!
i’m new in using AE, and in creative cow as well. just wondering if it’s possible to view or display the original timecode of my source footage in AE’s workspace.
after a rough edit in Premiere, i made a time log of my clips hoping to use it as a guide as i move to AE. but i can’t seem to access that embedded timecode. the only time that i see available is that of the composition’s timeline
is there a way to this in AE? or only Premiere can view the timecode of the source footage?

It’s there in the source footage but for some reason it’s not implemented in AE. It’s long-overdue. Perform a Search at the COW. There was a link provided to a work-in-progress. You may want to keep up-to-date with it. Essentially, it’s some Javascripting.
I believe that Premiere can burn in source timecode.

it’s kinda solved here:
requires os X or Unix.
a script calls an external CLI program that reads the quicktime, and finds out the timecode.
