I’m having issued transferring P2 footage over to FCP7. The footage skips and jumps, it was shot in 720 24p. I’m running it on a MacBook Pro. Any thoughts, i’ve tried the various Easy Setups to no avail. Im transferring from an HVX200.

Do you have Perian installed? This can create the kind of issue you’re describing.

    All the best,

No I don’t, however when I uncheck remove advanced pulldown I get no issues transferring in. When it’s check and I try and transfer it gives me the red exclamation mark.

#36 – One or More P2 files failed to import.

Shane’s Stock Answer #36 – “One or more clips failed to import…”

Very often in the field with this camera the camera operator will delete clips from the P2 card that they just don’t like. That is the beauty of this camera. But, the still for that video file (located in the CLIP folder in the CONTENTS folder)…the still that you see when you are in the P2 Import window…is not deleted. So you will see the image, and the name, but the video file would have been deleted.

What you can do it compare the file names in the VIDEO folder and CLIP folder and see if anything is missing. If something is, then you know what the problem is. You can then just import the rest a few at time, skipping that one.

ALSO…in the P2 Import window…in the P2 Browser, there is a little sprocket drop down menu. Click on that and choose PREFERENCES. Uncheck REMOVE PULLDOWN and then try importing again.

ALSO…make sure your file names aren’t too long. Try shortening them and see if that works.

ALSO make sure that the folders that contain the CONTENTS folder doesn’t have any odd characters like /!@#$%^&*()?.

Yea unchecking that box seemed to do it, any reason why this happens?

Yeah, it is trying to remove pulldown when none exists. That setting defaults to remove pulldown, so that people who shot 1080p 24pA have it automatically set.

Gotcha, the wonders of P2. Still curious as to why it plays back jittery in the L & T preview window even after unchecking the box but transfers into the Project Bin just fine.

    Thanks for the help guys

The L&T window is just REFERENCE. Just for you to see what you have. It will be jittery, no matter what format you have in there. ONce you import it wont be jittery.

    Something I’ve noticed,
if you upgrade (and possibly trash preferences), sometimes that dreaded check box will revert to default. I’ve had that happen, and since I knew I had that setting correct (or so I thought, since it had changed) it took me forever to figure it out (again).
