  • Problem with FCP 5 and effects on Snow Leopard

I upgraded my Macbook Pro to Snow Leopard and have since had troubles with some effects in FCP 5. First noticed it with light rays and then many other “stylistic” effects don’t work. I get a very specific error message, “General Error.” No numbers or anything. Anyways, wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Color correction filters still work fine and as far as I can tell I haven’t experienced any other problems.
    Cheers,

Well the biggest issue that I see is that you have FCP 5 and are attempting run it on a intel mac. The first version of FCP that was intel compatible was 5.1

The other issue is that you “upgraded” installing a new OS on on top of your old one on a machine that you have pro apps installed is almost always problematic. I always recommend erasing and installing the OS and then installing FCS clean.

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.

I should have been more specific. I have 5.1.4.

When you say erase the OS and fully install the new one, how do I do that? Would you recommend me doing that now, think it might help my problems?

    Thanks,
    Will
