Beginning to appreciate Final Cut
OK…can I just say that through all my frustrations with learning Final Cut coming from AVID…I really appreciate a very simple thing.
When I import graphics (TIFF) it automatically sets in/outs in the middle of the clip.
I know it sounds simple…but I would always have to enter +30 on avid to move 30 seconds into the clip for handles…
Does anyone know if there is a quick way to *go to* the set in point of multiple clips at one time?

You can’t really navigate multiple still frames at once, but go to in point is shift-i.

I sorry I don’t understand the question, or are you talking about how to do this on an Avid?

You shouldn’t need to do that in FCP with stills. It always opens the graphic into the viewer with the playhead at the In point. Doesn’t it?

I’ve complained enough…and thought I’d say something nice! 🙂
BTW, I have -go to in- mapped to the “q” key and go to out – “w” key. That was one of my first changes to the keyboard.
Here’s another thing I love about Final Cut…
You can set the amount of keyframes -Peak/All/Limited – it records when doing a “record keyframe” function. That is awesome…I can’t tell you how often I change that based on how perfect my audio changes need to be.
***Now if only there were a way to delete multiple audio keyframes at one time***

No…here’s from the FCP manual:
“If the clip is newly imported and has never been opened in the Viewer, Final Cut Pro uses that clip’s starting frame, since that is the default starting position for a clip.”

I thought about my last response…and you are kind of right. If you drag the clip from the browser or viewer…it WILL use the in and out points set. However, the playhead is sitting at the first frame. The action I was doing was a “replace” edit…which uses the current placement of the playhead, NOT the in point. That’s why I was trying to move the playhead to the in point on multiple clips that I was doing a TON of graphic replacements.

Yep, it’s rather annoying, but hit q, then f11, and you’re golden.

I use the ‘ key to go to In of a new clip. I wouldn’t change q; it’s one of my favs, toggles the viewer and canvas or switches to the viewer from the timeline.

I use the ‘clear’ button on my number pad to go to in, = button to go to out. And / to mark in and * to mark out. All of these on the number pad.
