Capture settings
Posted by Steve Tamou on September 28, 2009 at 4:25 pmA friend of mine gave me his Panasonic hard disk camcorder (HDD) that has the footage that I need to edit in FCP. But, I can’t get the capture settings right. FCP can’t detect the camcorder. It has a usb hook-up. Can anyone help me? Thank You in advance.

September 28, 2009 at 5:21 pmThank You Sir. But I am working with FCS 5 and I don’t see the log and transfer option. Maybe I don’t have that option? Or maybe I can do something else?

September 28, 2009 at 5:23 pmPlease give full details of what this camcorder is. Log and transfer works for HD formats; it will not work with SD formats.
All the best,
Tom

September 28, 2009 at 5:24 pmOho…then you can’t work with this footage most likely. Before it was called LOG AND TRANSFER it was called IMPORT>PANASONIC P2, and ONLY works with Panasonic’s P2 format. Support for other formats like AVCHD didn’t come until FCP 6. I am guessing that camera is AVCHD. You cannot import it with the version you have. You need to either upgrade to FCP 6 (find it somewhere), or FCP 7…or get Toast 10 to convert the footage from the camera.
