I’m looking for some recommendations for an LCD TV to put in our editing suite? I know of course I can spend $5,000 and get a true production monitor, but c’mon!

It’s more of a client monitor than anything, need to upgrade from our Sharp Aquos 37-inch. Looking for something 46″ or bigger and in the $1000-2000 range.

Any suggestions? What do you guys like?

For a client monitor, I wouldn’t recommend an LCD. I’d recommend a Panasonic Professional series plasma. Walter Biscardi, a prolific poster on this forum, swears by them.

Yep, that’s what we use in all the rooms to complement the FSI broadcast monitors. The 1080p models have come down in price lately too. We still have the 720p native plasmas as they are still working beautifully for us in both 720 and 1080 modes, but if I have to purchase a new one in the near future, it’ll be the 1080p models.

I use an Aquos 45″ for grade and client monitor. I bought the first model four years ago and although many here would say it is not accurate enough for grading, I have had no problems. They are now much cheaper than the early models.

One issue with screens in general is delay which can mean the audio syncing is an issue. Do you make the client monitor in sync or the reference you use? In my suite there is only one monitor for grade & client viewing plus the 24″ Apple Cinema display monitor for FCP.

The FSI reference monitor and Panny Pro Plasma are in sync. I couldn’t use them together if they weren’t.

I would love to get a Pana, but the price for a larger size (50″) is over $3,000 list, I just can’t justify the costs!

    Looking at these two:

    Samsung LNB750

    LG LH90

both have extensive color controls and have fared well against plasmas in side by side.

    Hi There!

I found this thread while researching a good flat panel tv for my edit suite. I’m a sole proprietor and have only been in business for two years, so I can’t majorly splurge on a tv, although I see its importance.

I checked out those Panasonics via the link you posted, but sadly, I those are financially out of reach and might be overkill for me at this point.

Do you have any more “cost effective, but still has the important things” suggestions??

    Thanks in advance!
