Dropped Frames and other crap that I hate (I’ve tried EVERYTHING)
I just edited video and everything worked fine while using multiclip. Now I’m editing another project and dropped frames comes back in. ANNOYING. Plus multiclip isn’t working properly, the viewer window isn’t properly playing both clips simultaneously, they are just frozen.
-MBP 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo / 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
-no antivirus software running
-using external HD w/firewire 800
-small video file sizes so its not carrying a HUGE load
-FCP 6.06Here’s all the specifications for video.
I get so worked up when FCP doesn’t work the way I want it to. I just spent hours and hours figuring out how to do this for my last (and first) project, and now it’s all happening again. Grrrr.
If someone could help me fix this I would be surprised. Please try though.

Oh and the audio and video still drifts out of sync when I import the audio as the SAME format as it originally works in. Things about FCP that make my blood boil. Funny how it doesn’t drift in Garageband, or ProTools, or Premiere, but it will in FCP. Though I’d still rather use FCP because the benefits outweigh the negatives.

File size is not something that would make a difference.
You have not really provided us with any info about things that will make a difference when it comes to dropped frames. Your picture does not tell us anything about the type of video other then frame size and how many videos you are trying to multi clip
What format video are you working with? (what codec)
How many streams of video are you tying to do with multi cam?
How full is your media drive?There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.

This would definitely cause problems. H.264 is a delivery codec NOT a editing codec.

This would also cause problems.
You should always leave minimum of 10% free on any hard drive at any time. Your media drive had only 5% free.
There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.

What a mess. Capturing to DVCProHD non controlled, editing in a sequence with H264 set as edit codec and audio at 44.1 – all in a modified AIC preset.
Firstly capture codec and sequence codec should match. Audio should be 48hz. Open a new sequence and drag a single shot in and FCP will ask if you want to chance sequence settings to match footage. Say yes and see what the sequence settings are.
Before capture and edit a workflow based on appropriate codecs should be planned. That way you won’t blame the tools when things don’t magically happen the way you might want them to. I am surprised the sequence plays at all.

Thank you guys. I learned a lot in your posts. Now here’s the problem, I converted it to those codecs because I stupidly did not know how to deal with MTS files which are the video files on my Canon HF10. I isolated the files from the camera, and then recorded more footage, which screwed everything up for me to Log and Transfer.
So I can’t convert them to a suitable codec because:
1. Compressor has been fucked up for the past month, I tried fixing it but the previous conversions are frozen stiff on the app and will not delete no matter what I’ve tried.
2. MPEG Streamclip does not recognize .MTS files
3. Other converters like Toast and Aimersoft Total Media Converter will not convert to an “editing” codec.I also was not aware that FCP needed 48 KHz audio in order to work properly.
Any tips?

Just want to update, I found that I have Adobe Media Encoder which i am about to convert to THESE settings:

Use ProRes 422, not ProRes 422 HQ).

ok now adobe media encoder keeps crashing whenever the file is close to being finished. can i ever win? not to mention compressor is totally frozen and pooped. it seems like nothing works.
