So I am editing a music video shot on the red camera in FCP. I (stupidly) ingested the footage at 4k and started editing. now I am in the middle of an edit, and am worried that things will start to screw up due to working with such a large media database. I have converted the filed to 2K using redrushes. My question is how do I replace the 4k files with the 2k files and continue editing where I left off, cause after all, the files have identical names.

There is probably some way one could achieve this with XMLs or EDLs. But you know what. Even if this could be automated, you will still need to make reference video and compare that the re-conform worked.

My suggestion is to manually replace the cuts with the new Quicktime 2k movies. It would be faster if you have less than 50 cuts to replace.

Since the names and timecodea are the same, it won’t take as long as you’d imagine.
