A discussion at work there was over whelming support for using the compressor for all work exported.
My argument was unless exporting to specific codec’s other than the project settings there was no need to use compressor.
When exporting media from timeline to be used for editing on another partition or Mac, is it best to use the compressor or send it as is without change.

    Many thanks

I export right out of FCP at the timeline’s codec all the time. Especially for archiving. I also export directly for conversion. No issues here. Sure, Compressor gives you more options and I do use it for other codecs. I also use Cleaner and Episode for other codecs. All have their uses.

I prefer to export quicktime from the timeline, current settings then generate whatever else I need from that in compressor. Compressor set up with a quick cluster can kik out multiple formats much faster than timeline exports.
