importing older formats
Perhaps this question has been answered elsewhere; but I’m a musician and a photographer, rather ignorant of video technology. I apologize if this is redundant.
My buddy has Final Cut Pro and a nicer HD videocamera; I’ve got access to some older 8mm VHS cameras. I want to videotape my band playing live, using the HD camera for the main camera angle, with the older cameras running simultaneously and focussed on individual musicians. I actually like the idea of the alternate camera clips being lower resolution, with black bars on the sides. Then, in editting, the vantage point switches back and forth between that of the main camera and those of the alternate cameras.
I see where Final Cut Pro can access a great many different video formats, and I’m wondering: can we load the program with the HD video (and audio) signal alongside VHS video signals, syncronizing all of them, then edit by switching back and forth between them?
