  • Command 8 ProTools mixing board with FCP?

    Hello,

I recently came into possession of a Digidesign Command 8 Pro Tools Mixing Console (with USB output), and I was curious to know if there is a way to configure it to use with Final Cut Pro?

I am interested in configuring it to be able to monitor audio outputs out of FCP. I found the ‘Control Surfaces’ module in the Tools dropdown, but just wondering if anyone has any experience with this, if its even possible?!

Any and all help would be appreciated!

Not sure about the Command 8. Some control surfaces/consoles out there can be configured for use with FCP by using a Mackie setting, I believe…dont’ know the particulars of why. Mackie MCU and i think one of the Tascam models work with FCP. But are you looking to use the DigiDesign console for sound/slider realtime mixing and playback control, and overall audio i/o interfacing, or just for audio monitoring? Because there’s a lot of simple options for audio monitoring and i/o using USB or opticals instead of the mini-plugs.

Here’s an article that goes over some control surface setup info….

    Thanks for the response Ray…

Ideally, we’d like to have it be able to do realtime mixing in FCP, but if we can just get it to work for audio monitoring, we’d be happy with that…we have the board for ProTools, but it would be a sweet bonus if we can have it work with FCP too…

Thanks for the article – I’ll check it out.

    Best,

    Brian
