    Hello,
I have an issue with subtitles. i have prepared subtitles for Pal 4:3 output to BetaSP, now want to output my project to 16:9 Digital Beta.
i wanted place all my subs a bit lower. I don`t own software like title exchange pro, and the demo of that app is finished long time ago…So I nested all subtitles in to a new sequence ant placed that sequence over video and moved it lower. Strange thing happened, the subtitles that were in the orange render bar had no alpha. the green bar was displaying correct. Here i had to play with sequence render settings, so still images cache had more ram. it took a while to get a right balance in the settings to get all my subs appear in the green bar. very annoying. this project is less than an hour length, and the upcoming project is longer. before I get panic there, maybe someone would share experience how to work with subtitles, how to apply a correction(position, font, size…) for an entire subtitle track, without buying an extra software?

For global position or scaling/distort changes in subtitles across a timeline all you need is to change one title and then copy and paste attributes on all other titles.

If you want to change font type – like from Helvetica to Times for instance – you will need a Title Exchange Pro. It is money well spent, I can assure you. I have one and I do a lot of subtitling.

If this is a one-off, then you could do an XML export of the subtitle layer and then edit that XML with a search and replace in TextEdit. That way you can change anything.

you might be able to use paste attributes for this.
but ONLY IF all your existing titles have the same basic motion.

    park on your first subtitle,
set canvas to image & wireframe,
    hold shift,
and drag the wireframe down in the canvas.

now open that subtitle into the viewer,
    go to the motion tab,
and make sure the x and y co-ordinates are whole, even numbers
    (this should look better)

now, in the timeline copy the clip,
select all other subtitles (use the track tool)
and OPTION v to paste attributes: basic motion.

    HOWEVER:
if you have already played around with the text generator’s motion settings,
like maybe you used this to create single and double line positions,
    then pasting attributes wont work.

probably safest to work on a COPY of your original timeline.
