  8/16 Character EDL Issue with RED finishing on FCP

  I’m finishing a RED job out of Final Cut Pro 6. I need to export EDLs for our Flame artist. Problem is, the reel names are 8 characters long. FCP is truncating them. I might have understood this a few years ago, since EDL is an old format. But Avid has the option to make RED16 EDLs, which are essentially just CMX3600 EDLs with 16 character reel names.

  How do we do this in Final Cut? It seems embarrassing for FCP not to be able to handle RED footage all the way to finishing. There’s gotta be a way to do this.
