  • Sending footage from FCP to Motion

    Hey guys,

I am working with an H.264 codec in FCP, and whenever I send it to Motion there is some sort of glitch. The video cuts off part way and is replaced with a freeze frame for the duration of the time code. I tried bringing in the same video in DV, and my sequence settings match my codec. Any help or suggestions would be awesome!

Don’t use H.264. It is not an editing codec, it is a delivery codec. it is not meant to be used the way you are trying to. You need to convert this to DV, or if it is HD sized, then to ProRes. Then do all of your editing and such.

have you tried opening the clip in just Motion as opposed to sending it to Motion from FCP? If that works, save your Motion project instead of exporting and then import the Motion project file into FCP so you can round trip if you need to
