PowerPC can’t see mxf media in project created on Mac laptop
In our efforts to edit P2 mxf files, we’ve used a Mac laptop for ingesting with the goal of transferring onto a PowerPC for editing in FCP. Both the laptop and the PowerPC are on OSX 10.4.11, both using the same version of FCP 6.0.6. So, using DuelAdaptor, we ingested the footage from the card onto an external Lacie drive. Then, we opened a project in FCP, imported the mxf files from the external into the project, and saved the project onto the external.
We then took the external and patched it up to the PowerPC. On the PowerPC, we opened the project from off the external drive, and all the reference files in the bin appeared to be linked to the media mxf files on the external. However, when you try playing any of the mxf files referenced in the bin, either audio or video, there’s no media appearing in the Viewer.
So, is there a problem in this workflow? Should we have ingested the media using L&T on the laptop instead of importing the files? Or is the PowerPC missing something by not having the DuelAdaptor drivers installed? Would those drivers help at all? Would all this be easier by simply hooking up the camera directly to the PowerPC via FW and ingesting using L&T directly into the PowerPC?
