HDV to DV DVD Mass Insanity!
I know this has been covered before on the forums but I could not find a direct answer.
I have and HDV sequence I rendered out as ProRez to compressor. Field order is upper when i look in the inspect in Compressor. When I watch my DVD on a tv, the motion has a slight ghosting/stutter effect.
What is the correct field order to set under Field Output in the Frame Controls tab? And likewise, what should I set it to in the inspector tab.
The way its set now everything is being interepreted as upper field in Compressor.

DVD is SD and will always be lower fields.
Select DVD Best 16 X 9 and closes to your program length.

Thanks. Oddly enough, my HDV sourced DVDs have a more film like-like motion/feel through the deinterlacing done in compressor as opposed to just downconverting to DV straight from my camera. Is this normal? This is my first week doing HDV to DVD workflow so sorry for sounding so noobish;)

to be more specific
if your sources is 1080i thats upper field
DVD NTSC is lower field OR progressive
you can output native 24P from your 1080 TL if you edited in 24P to begin with, export to 24P NTSC clip and then into DVD SP. FWIW, you could also just import your HD export into DVD SP as well.

So, the Field Output in the Frame Controls tab should be set to bottom instead of same as source?
My source was 1080 60i, and Im exporting to DVD NTSC mpeg2.Thanks

Of course the rest of the world, working in 25fps should ignore all this. PAL SD is upper field just like 1080 50i. The only lower field in PAL land is DV so if you can avoid that codec all is easy.
