Can’t import quicktime files in FCP 6.0!
I have Final Cut Pro 6.0
For some reason whenever I try to import any sort of quicktime file it gives me this message: “File Error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown.”
Any help out with this would be greatly appreciated!

any quicktime file and I get that error message.

Open the file in the QuickTime player. Go to movie info. Exactly what does it say about the media?

Well besides saying it’s a ‘QuicktimeMovie’ the codecs are AAC for audio and H.264.

Use compressor to turn that into an editable file such as dv or dv50 if it’s sd resolution. What’s the frame rate?

The frame rate is 19.98.
And where do I find the dv setting in compressor?

Not the playback rate, but the actual frame rate.

So I found that exporting it to DV through Quicktime worked out quite well, other than the fact that it clipped part of the right side of the screen while looking at it in FCP.

H.264 is a delivery codec not a editing codec.
Like others said you need to convert it to a proper editing format.
There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
Don’t let technology get in the way of your creativity! -
QuickTime Movie doesn’t mean crap. The video codec is not a production codec. The audio codec is a compressed codec used for delivery not for production. The frame rate is non-existent as a video standard. You need to convert this material. There are presets in Compressor for all the FCP formats.
BTW what size is this image, 160×120, 320×240, 730×480, 1280×720, 1440×1080, 1920×1080, 2K, 4K. I left out a bunch to keep it simple. There as a reason we asked exactly what’s in movie info. You could have taken the effort to actually write exactly what it said and not bullshit like it’s a QuickTime Movie.
