I have recently replaced my edit system. The project I’m currently working on will be in ProRes (it was shot on an EX1 at 1080/30p). I don’t envision editing professionally on a lesser format than than anytime in the foreseeable future.

I don’t currently have a large enough budget to get a new capture card and HD monitor. I have my old ADVC-100 and JVC TM-H1750 – I am wondering whether I should sell those or whether they are still of use? Can I connect those while editing HD for monitoring?

Thanks in advance! (and sorry if this is a silly question)

No, they won’t. He ADVC is a DV only device. Won’t work with any format of HD. The monitor will be of some use. Get an HD capture device and it can still downconcert the HD signal to the monitor. So at least you can see something. But it won’t be of any use monitoring HD Different color space.
