Vector
I am creating a dvd menu. I made a square box (1.3″ x 1.3″) in illustrator that has 60% transparency. On top of the box, centered is some type i.e “Play”. I need to import that into FCP to place over a movie so I can have a motion menu in DVD Studio Pro.
Problems I have been having in a fierce game of ‘guess and check’:
1) Illustrator file saved for web as a png-24: Shape holds, transparency holds, but text is so so.
2) Illustrator file saved for web as a jpg: No transparency, quality low.
3) Illustrator file saved as .ai: Quality better, No transparency.
4) I then noticed that if I import PSD files to the timeline, the quality is completely there. So I imported my illustrator .png’s to Photoshop, re-saved them as PSD’s… imported that to FCP… and the pixel aspect ratio stretched them out.
So I figured I could just set my PAR in PShop first, redo each one with a slightly flatted dimension, then import them again…
It just seems like a tedious process and that I just don’t know what I am doing.
Is there a rule of thumb that I should know? How would you go about creating this dvd menu with a sharp vector image?
