  • blending a still jpeg with dv footage to look like dv footage

Posted by –bez–bez–bez– on July 8, 2007 at 12:42 pm

I have deleated a static car out of a still shot by photoshoping a still frame.

i have then masked out a portion of my footage leaving the photoshoped still behind it and then feathered the mask on the footage to blend the two.

this works great, but there is one problem. the still doesnt have any dv noise like the rest of the footage.

is there any way of making the still portion of my footage look like moving footage.

i have tryed using noise but it doesnt blend well at all.

    please help

    Hello there!

As a matter of fact the other day I was actually doing this to blend a CG object into a live action shot. All you need to do is Effect>Noise and Grain>Add grain. Then its just a matter of playing with the size, softness, and anamation until it matches your footage. Im sorry I can’t tell you much more then that because it all depends on your footage.

    Hope this helped,
    Joey

“Match Grain” might be a better option, as it was designed for that purpose: to take noise from one source and apply it to another.
