Ok. So I have been gathering many DVD’s over the past few weeks of work that I have done and I am now assembling them into one reel. Of course, it appears that DVD’s were manufactured in both 29.97 and 23.98 as well as 16:9 and 4:3 letterboxed. So the question is how do I make it so I can edit them all together without the jittery motion that often happens during conversion?

I currently have a 23.98/16:9 timeline, as I figured this is slowly becoming the new standard. Half of my clips(entire films ripped from the original DVDs) are in 23.98/16:9 and half are in 29.97/4:3. The 29.97 clips clearly have some jitter issues and converting using, compressor and cinema tools seems to give few results. I had also planned on simply blowing up the 4:3 letterboxed image to fit 16:9 and deal with the quality loss as it will basically only appear on-line. On top of this I have some old quicktimes that are also in 29.97/4:3 letterboxed that I would like add. This reel is obviously going to end up on-line and maybe on a few DVD’s. So, should I simply capture the 23.98 footage into FCP the normal way and edit at 29.97/anamorphic 16:9, which produces a correct non-jitter 29.97 clip or should I try to convert the 29.97 clips to 23.98?

What is best for internet streaming? Is cutting in 29.97 a waste of time, because in the future I may want to add new stuff, which will undoubtedly be in 23.98/16:9?

Also, I have read about these Nattress filters and such, but I am uncertain whether they are worth the price. Lord knows, I have purchased other on-line “miracle programs” that have failed. Is there no alternative?

    Thanks
