  cant capture footage?

  for some reason i cant capture my footage. it was working but not anymore. i use fire wire and the computer dosnt seem to be able read it. but when i have my capture cam on camera mode it shows up on the capture screen but when its on vcr mode all i get is the color bars. it dose say VTR ok and i can control the camera from my computer but the video dosnt show up on there. this use to happen before but i would just quit final cut then reopen it and it would work but now it just dosnt work. is there any advice i could get? it would be very helpfull

  Try the old standby: trash prefs and repair permissions.
