I have a long list of issues and make-shift ways of solving them.

Quick background. I am working on a video project in FCP 4.5. At one point I upgraded my FCP to 5. When I did this, along with a quicktime upgrade, the project file wouldn’t open anymore. To play it safe, we went back to 4.5.

We have been shooting new footage with an HD camcorder (.mts2 files) which cannot be read or played on FCP 4.5.

So we purchased a converter program to turn those HD files into another video format.

    Question:

Without changing my FCP or QT versions… which is the best conversion, i.e. .mov, avi, .movhd, to keep the highest quality that will be read by FCP 4.5

    Thanks

If you work with FC “.mov” (QT Movie) is your way. Is the only way that you can bring something to FC and export without rendering.

8b Uncompress would be the codec that would keep the whole picture information from your mts2 files.
Also I’m not sure (don’t remember) if FC 4.5 can work with those files.
