    Hey there,
Found some other links on this topic, but not sure if anyone ever mentioned the solution.
Received a few DVD’s from a client which contain .MTS files. Trying to import them into
FCP Studio 6.0.6. Can’t get FCP to recognize these files. Keep getting this message when I do log and transfer:

“contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media.”

    Help! (please)

    Howdy

Try putting the files into toast and transcoding the files from there – mts require a certain folder structure

    hope this helps

    Much appreciated Craig,
I actually was able to find a program called “Aimersoft Total Media Converter” which worked pretty
well. Transferred them to Quicktime files with the highest resolution being 1280×720
with the H.264 encoder. I made the bit rate 1200 kbps. Footage looks good but I’m not sure how it compares to the original .MTS files. There are also options to convert to .ASF, various .MPEG Versions, .MKV and XVID AVI. I’m doing the right thing by just making them .MOV files for the best quality to edit/export from FCP, correct?

Sorry, this whole conversion things drives me batty!

H.264 is not an edit codec so getting your files into a .mov format that FCP likes is a good idea.
