FCP – Update from v6.0 to v6.0.4
Hello,
This may seem a simple question for some, however I’m struggling to install the latest version of FCP v6.0.6.
Is there an easy way of going from FCP v6.0 to v6.0.4?
I currently have FCP v6.0 running on my MACBOOK Pro and would ideally like to upgrade to v6.0.4 at a minimum (the reason is that I’m trying to open a FCP project file created in FCP v6.0.4).
I’ve downloaded the latest version of FCP v6.0.6, however the installation is rejected as I need to have FCP v6.0.5 already installed.
Can someone please let me know if there is a simple way to go from FCP v6.0 to FCP v6.0.4?

Just simply run software update, and keep doing that until there are no more updates left (some updates do require a previous update to be installed)

I don’t see FCP in the list of applications to update (Software Update List).
Are you saying that I have to update other applications in order for FCP to come up in my Software Update list?

Any chance you have moved the FCP apps so that they are not located they normally are in the Applications folder. For example if you moved them all within another folder inside the applications folder.
Software update ONLY looks in the Applications folder to see what you have, so if the application it self is not there it will not find it, and software update does not look in the folders that are inside of the applications folder.

I’ve noticed that some of the final cut upgrades show up as “pro applications update” in my software update. Make sure you have that update checked. And make sure your operating system is either 10.4.11 or a more recent version of 10.5
I’ve been updating all of our machines to 6.0.6 from 6.0 and I noticed that on 6.0.6 I finally saw an updater that actually said final cut pro 6.0.6.

Zane: Thanks for your input… I’ve checked my ‘Applications’ folder and FCP is listed there.
All: Does anyone know if Apple archive prior release updates for FCP via the apple.com.au download site? i.e. FCP 6.0.1, FCP 6.0.2, FCP 6.0.3, FCP 6.0.4?

No need to respond to my previous post… installing “Pro Applications Update” did the job. After the “Pro Applications Update” it prompted to download & install FCP 6.0.6.
