  Upconverting DV to 720p23.98

  Working on a project shot at 720p23.98 and need to use some anamorphic dv/ntsc footage in the sequence that I have on DVCAM tapes.

  I am familiar with upconverting from SD to HD with my Kona 3 card but don’t often deal with going from 29.97 to 23.98. Every time I try to upconvert it via the Kona card it plays back in slow motion. I’m guessing because the original material is at 60i?

  Any tips on how I can get it into final cut without it looking like garbage?

  I have access to an old version of the natress standards conversion plugin, after effects, compressor, and cinema tools.

  Kona does not do frame rate conversion.

  You need to get it transferred at a dub house or use Compressor.

  What about just editing the 720p23.98 footage in a 720p29.97 sequence?

  BAD idea. Mixing frame rates is never wise, and can make your footage look choppy. Improper pulldown and all. Best to convert.
