I have an apple pro res 1080 24p final cut pro project i’m editing. The live action Sony Ex3 footage comes in fine at 16:9 full in the viewer. My large 4k Canon 5d photos come in cropped on this sides looking like 4:3. Why is it doing this? Do i need to stretch my images to make them 16:9? These are huge files, why are they not filling the entire screen?

sorry for my ignorance in this matter, i hope to learn, I want my animation to seamlessly cut with the live action.

    Thanks,

This is because Final Cut is automatically resizing your image to fit within the canvas. If you check out the motion tab with the clip selected, you’ll see exactly how much it’s scaling down your photo. You can scale it back up to fit the canvas if you want. Be careful with using large stills though, they tend to bog down Final Cut.
