I am using my cheap Polaroid DVC-00725F to shoot some footage at work and of the family with the hopes that I can practice going from idea to camera to edit to finished product.
The film is saved to a CDcard as an .avi but has this crazy encoding that requires a conversion (using FFmpegX) in order to see the video.
When I then test this conversion in Quicktime video and audio render fine and the raw uncut is good.
I am converting from .avi to .mp4
One question: is there a cleaner format I should be looking to convert to first?

Then I want to edit it in FCP, import works fine. The sequence seems to set properties when I place the slips in the timeline. The Audio must be rendered before it will work (would love to solve this, but these are short videos and manageable).
The problem comes when I want to scrub for the roughcut. The video is choppy. Audio is fine.
Additionally, the program will pinwheel OFTEN during playback.

I am ready to throw my hands up, but hopeful that I wont have to get rid of the camera in the process.
Anyone that can provide help will be a hero for this up and coming filmmaker!!

    Thank you,

    Go to DV.

Great, conversion to DV worked perfectly! Thank you.

Now my question is this… When I use FFMpegx to convert to DV, I can only convert one at a time… whereas I was able to queue the mp4 conversions.. now only one gets converted and the rest fail. Ideas why?
