  • Avid MPEG 50 Codec file to play in FCP?

Posted by Hugh Sundae on June 9, 2009 at 11:40 pm

I have a .mov file, with the AVID MPEG 50 codec, that I want to import and use in FCP6.

I’ve been to the plug in components page to find the right one, but there it gets confusing. Other people have mentioned needing a Universal Binary Plugin as I have an Intel Mac.

Could anyone please point me in the direction of the ‘specific’ plugin I need to make AVID MPEG 50 files play?

    Cheers

I believe the Avid MPEG IMX 50 codec is part of the Avid Codecs PE package which only comes with the commercial license of Media Composer and higher Avid products. I would contact whomever gave you that file and see if they can convert it to a file that you can use.
