[guy crossman] “I would like to copy the whole lot onto another Lacie drive, so that it can be opened on another machine, and worked on for the colour grade and sound dubb- with access to all the original rushes. What do I need to do to ensure that everything is copied safely?
“
Copy the Final Cut Pro Documents Folder and the FCP Project along with any additional media elements to the new drive.
Eject and turn off the original drive.
Open the Project from the new drive and reconnect all the media to that drive. If everything is there, you’re good to go, just save the Project and hand it off for color grade.
Or
If your project is completely finished just Media Manage the final Timeline. Use the Copy function to copy all the media in that finished timeline to a new project. That will give the colorist all the necessary raw material for that particular timeline. This is how I usually receive finished projects for color grade.
