I’m working on a short movie. Low budget ofcourse. Everything is shot on a si2k camera. I have a couple of questions about the workflow.

We want to colorgrade the movie in “Color”, that’s why we want to transcode the .mov files into a dpx sequence. Otherwise “Color” can’t read the files. Does someone has any experience converting these files? Is there any loss of information if I transcode it with FCP to uncompressed quicktime? I’ve read things on the internet about a floating point.

If there is any loss of data in this way. Is there another way of converting these .mov files without using Glue Tools or any other expensive program (neo 4k etc)

    Thanks in advance

    Do you have after effects?

If so, you can bring the footage into AE and render out 10bit DPX files.

If you download the Cineform plug for Quicktime, you should be able work native in Color with the Quicktimes. You can then render out of Color to Uncompressed. It all depends on how you’re finishing.
