Scratch disks connected to project
************Suggestion for Apple:
I really wish that the “Scratch Disk” designation setting could somehow be retained as part of the Project File. When I switch among different projects in a given edit session, I inevitably end up rendering one project onto the external drive where a different project lives.
Then I have to spend time to copy the Render Files onto the correct drive, and usually the Sequence won’t reconnect with the Render Files anyway, and so I end up having to re-render the whole thing.

Trust me, folks have been asking for this for year. Essentially ALL the settings of a project should be retained. Format, Scratch Disc, etc…..
But they are all Global to the software instead. As Shane said, fill out a feedback form on Apple’s site, who knows, maybe you’ll be that 1,000,000 person to make that request and then we’ll see something happen.

One way to fake this is to use multiple users, with a different user name for each project, and then each project will have its own preferences.
But then you have to log in and out, or user switch but make sure only one user is using the FCP applications, so you gain a different aggravation.
