  Hello CC Gurus,

  For editing in FCP, what is more important for ensuring a seamless (fewer dropped frames/better quality) editing environment on one’s computer: Memory (RAM) or Processor speed. I’m choosing a new platform for editing, and I need to know which configuration I should spend more $ on.

  So what you’re saying is, neither memory nor processing speed is anymore important than the other in all circumstances?

  If you get the bigger processor with all the RAM that you can mount but you don’t install a good GPU, you won’t go to far.
  All the FC’s Fxplugins, Motion, Color etc are GPU dependent.

  A faster drive array will provide the most obvious benefit to RT playback (and it will open you up to larger frame sizes & less compressed codecs).

  But all of the critical subsystems of CPU/GPU/memory/drive system are of equal importance in the end.
