  • Dark QUICKTIME files upon export

Posted by Jim Carswell on May 19, 2009 at 2:08 pm

Whenever I export a QUICKTIME from my timeline it seems to be a stop or even two stops darker than it appears within FCS and on my Panasonic HD studio monitor.

I am exporting from a Pro Res (HQ) 422 timeline. Video is DVCPROHD shot on an HVX200. Whenever I export, whether it’s to a DVCPROHD QUICKTIME file, to an H.264 file or another other format, it comes out dark.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jim

    Hi Jim,
Have a look in the QT Preferences. You may have activated “Enable FCS compatibility.
This make that the files are played with Gamma 2.2 instead of 1.8.

In the QT player, QT menu you will find two sets of preferences. One is QT Preferences and the other just Preferences. Is in the second one. In the General tab.
