  1080p XDCam and 1080i DVCproHD

  Newbie here to HD – I have been given XDCam 1080p footage on a hard drive and currently capturing DVCpro HD 1080i from tape. I will be outputting to DVCproHD. My question is, am I going to have frame issues converting the progressive footage to interlaced or vise versa and what is the best method to go about it?

  That will depend on if your 1080p footage was shot 24p or 30p.

  If it is shot 30p, you’ll be perfectly fine. Now, converting from 24p to 60i can have issues. Chances are if the footage was shot 24p, it was shot 24p pulldown, which if it were, you’ll be fine there also. It becomes a real problem if the footage is shot 24p native.

  Thanks for the response! The 1080p footage was shot in 30 and client wants to lay back to beta and DVCproHD. I am using a Kona 2 card sooo… I am “assuming” the card will do the conversion for me. I dropped the progressive footage into the interlaced timeline and rendered it out for online approvals, but haven’t had the chance to actually test output to beta.
