Need help Printing to tape HDV 1080i60
I am having trouble printing to tape. I have a XDCAM HD 1080i60 FCP project that I want to print to tape. I would like to print it to a mini-dv tape in 16:9 HDV. I have never done this before and am having trouble figuring it out. I keep getting error messages saying “the selected audio and video devices do not match”. then it says “sequence is not compatible with HDV print to video. I am using a 6 pin to 6 pin firewire to connect my camera, which is a Sony Z-7.
First thing…should I select the “Print to video” or “edit to tape” function? And what do I do from there?

XDCAM and HDV are not the same format…they have different GOP structures and data rates. You cannot print an XDCAM sequence to HDV tape. You can only print an HDV sequence with HDV footage to HDV tape. And it has to be HDV footage, for before it prints to tape, it needs to conform the HDV captured footage back into the GOP format that it captured from tape.
And trying to convert XDCAM to HDV via FCP or Compressor will result in less than stellar results.
Really, the only good way is to get an HD capture card and good HDV deck that has Component or SDI inputs, and output that way…with just a signal. This way the deck can record into the HDV format.
