In Premiere Pro, it natively supports .mxf files. In FCP, you must open up the Log and Transfer window and convert it to ProRes. Once it’s converted, you should have no problems using it in FCP.

the icon of the mxf files is not active, so I can’t log them. If I can’t log them how can I convert them into pro res ?

If you need to natively edit MXF files in FCP, try MXF4mac. WHere did the MXF files orginate from?

Premiere doesn’t make MXF files, Avid does. So do P2 cameras, but they need to be in a very spedific file structure in order for FCP to work with them. In order to import this file you need to know EXACTLY where it came from…no guessing here.

You’re right here of course – you need to know where the MXF came from. MXF is an open standard that is a container format that contains video, audio, metadata, etc.

Premiere Pro CAN create MXF by the way. You can take any media and export it as Panasonic’s P2 – the format most commonly referred to as MXF.

[Dennis Radeke] “the format most commonly referred to as MXF.”

Avid’s capture and wrap media as MXF as well.

There is an issue currently with P2 MXF files created with Premiere, please see here:
