  Digitizing a whole tape in one clip

  I have updated to FCP 6.0.4…
  Used to be I could digitize an entire tape regardless of camera start/stops as one clip. The new program seems to create a new clip for each start stop. In the preferences there are three choices about going across TC breaks but none let you keep going as one clip. The check box in the logging window also makes no difference. As I work in full resolution, I don’t care about re-digitizing later. I just want to put in the whole tape as one clip. Then I can scroll through it to find my shots. Any ideas? Much thanks.

  If you don’t care about TC and recapture, set device control to Non-controllable and do a Capture Now. This will give you a solid clip.

  If you have control over the production and this is what you always want to (or at least when you want to) make sure the cameras are set to TC Rec Run and not Free Run. As long as the cameramen are not shuttle back and tape reviewing the tape in the field you will get seamless TC.
