Hello All, I have a few motion graphic artists working on some projects in Adobe Flash that will soon need to be imported and worked on in Final Cut Pro 6. Does anyone have good export settings suggestions. i would hope to keep the same resolution even though most of these projects will be presented on the web. I have had problems before with FLV and SWF files. Is there a good .mov export or something relative ?

Flash can export QT movies. Although their size may be off for what you need. Export them using whatever codec you’re editing with. If that doesn’t work well enough, you can use Perian which plays flvs and swfs in QT Player, and use QT Player to export. Before committing to producing all the graphics I’d run some tests. Flash QT exports are often funky.

    Hey,
I’m having sort of similar issues. Our graphics guy is using Adobe Flash to create motion graphics for my use in Final Cut. Would anyone have more specific advice (our project specs below)?

The program is for a broadcast network, and my FCP sequence and project footage are 29.97, standard def. NTSC DV (3:2) 720×480, compressor DV/DVCPRO

My graphics guy is giving us flash graphics footage.
FCP says that it’s 10fps, 720×540, Animation compressor.
Quicktime says that the graphics files is 17.28fps.

I know next to nothing about Flash, and the graphics guy has a great design sense, but not too much tech background – what do I tell him to get us graphics that will work seamlessly?

    Thanks guys.

You’re going to have issues with the source material you list, particularly if you want a high-quality look. Motion graphics for broadcast should be done in Motion, AfterFX, etc. That’s what they are designed to do. At the very least make sure your Flash guy uses a stage with 720×480 as the dimensions. The frame rate should be 30fps. This still may not look very good. Flash exports of QTs are for previewing. They’re not meant for high-quality video. Another approach if the size and framerate are good is to use a scan converter to capture the video as it plays on your computer. This quality will be much better, but you need to use a good scan converter.
